Online writing assignment 2

Online writing assignment 2

This week I'd like you to read this article
and write your reaction to it in the comments section. Your reply doesn't have to be a toefl-style essay. You should use the same thinking process though. I'm interested in whether you agree or disagree and why or why not? Remember to put your name and email address in your post.

Thanks
Michael

In fact, I have only been studying in Vietnam so I can’t tell what difference between the educational systems of Vietnam and others countries. But I think that I know exactly how the Vietnam educational system is and what it lakes.
In Vietnam, you don’t have much opportunity to show your ego. Teachers only read and read while pupils only listen and write exactly whatever their teachers dictate. During the time when I studied in elementary school through high school, we had to learn by our hearts every lesson. And when we had exams, we had to rewrite whatever we had learnt before without any difference. It was awful! Because I was the kind of pupil who didn’t want to learn as a parrot so I always remembered details and express them with my own words. As the result, I couldn’t get good marks and I was always being criticized ad a lazy pupil.
That problem shows very clearly when you study literature. In literature, when you write an essay, you’ll get good marks if you write your essay following a fixed marking scheme. I remember that once I read an article about that problem. The author is a teacher who has high responsibility with his students. He wrote that he had marked one essay making him concerned. The essay deserved to get good mark but unfortunately it didn’t follow the fixed marking scheme. If he marked the essay with that marking scheme, it would get bad mark. But law is law and the essay couldn’t get high score.
When I studied in university, the professors asked us to perform ourselves. But it seems too late, we are familiar with obeying what we have learnt in the past. Only a few students could show their ego. And this is the time that makes me feel regretful. Because I was too shy to perform myself and when I began to be familiar with that, I graduated. I use to wish that if I could return to that stage, I had shown myself without any hesitate.
Nowadays, people are discussing about our educational system. They say that our system is out of date. They want to improve it to help our pupils assimilate with other countries. Many solutions have been shown. And what I have to do now is waiting and hoping.

I am still a student , and i still belong to my teachers.Of course , i hate vietnamese education . you know, i must learn by heart all my lessons as perrots . what terrible it is ! in our exam , i must write all definations in testbooks . it just wastes our time . in my future , i don't want to study in vietnam .vietnamese universitys are not enought good for student to study. although nowdays , they are improved but they also have some problems . i think teachers mustn't read what is on textbooks and students must read by themselves . it 's so good . i also think that exams should have new questions which make students think and think not to repeat as perrots . the second problem is mark . why is it important? what does it reflect? are you a good perrot or a bad perrot when you only repeat? students are afraid of scores . i hope vietnamese education should improve quickly before all students go abroad.

Nga, thanks for your essay, It could be better if you showed more clearly the differences between school and university.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "perform" in this context. try a different word.

The rest of it is good. The only other thing to change is this:

And what I have to do now is waiting and hoping.(wait and hope)

thanks again
Michael
